Copy Trading

Learn how to automatically replicate successful traders' strategies with Med.Fun's copy trading feature.

What is Copy Trading?

Copy trading allows you to automatically mirror the trades of successful wallets in real-time. When they buy, you buy. When they sell, you sell. All executed automatically based on your configured settings.

Benefits of Copy Trading

  • Learn from Experts: Follow proven strategies from successful traders

  • Save Time: No need to constantly monitor markets

  • Diversification: Copy multiple wallets with different strategies

  • Automation: Trades execute automatically while you sleep

  • Customizable: Full control over amounts, limits, and filters

Risks of Copy Trading

  • No Guarantees: Past success doesn't predict future results

  • Slippage: Your execution price may differ from the copied wallet

  • Market Changes: Strategies that worked before may not work now

  • Overfollowing: Wallet may change behavior if they know they're copied

  • Fees: Trading fees apply to every copied trade

Getting Started

Prerequisites

Before setting up copy trading:

  1. ✅ Have a funded Med.Fun account

  2. ✅ Identify wallet(s) you want to copy

  3. ✅ Understand their trading strategy

  4. ✅ Set aside capital specifically for copy trading

  5. ✅ Decide on risk parameters

Finding Wallets to Copy

Method 1: Wallet Leaderboard

  1. Navigate to AI HubTop Wallets

  2. Review ranked wallets by performance metrics

  3. Click on wallets to see detailed history

  4. Analyze their trading patterns

Method 2: Token Pages

  1. Visit any token detail page

  2. Look for top traders/holders

  3. Check their performance

  4. Find consistent performers

Method 3: External Research

  1. Follow successful traders on Twitter/X

  2. Check Solscan for whale wallets

  3. Research from crypto communities

  4. Verify their track record on-chain

Evaluating Wallets

Before copying, check these metrics:

Performance Metrics:

  • ✅ Total P&L (positive and consistent)

  • ✅ Win Rate (60%+ is excellent)

  • ✅ Number of trades (sufficient sample size)

  • ✅ Average hold time (matches your strategy?)

  • ✅ Drawdown (how deep were their losses?)

Trading Pattern:

  • ✅ Consistent strategy or erratic?

  • ✅ Position sizes - reasonable or overleveraged?

  • ✅ Token diversity or single-token focused?

  • ✅ Trading frequency - day trader or swing trader?

  • ✅ Recent performance (last 30 days)

Red Flags:

  • ❌ Only 1-2 lucky trades (not consistent)

  • ❌ Extremely high risk-taking

  • ❌ Very few trades (not enough data)

  • ❌ Recent poor performance

  • ❌ Suspiciously perfect record (possible self-trading)

Setting Up Copy Trading

Step-by-Step Setup

Step 1: Access Copy Trading

  1. Navigate to AI HubCopy Trading tab

  2. Click "Add Wallet to Track" or "Start Copy Trading"

Step 2: Enter Wallet Address

  1. Paste the Solana wallet address you want to copy

  2. The system will load their recent trading history

  3. Review their stats before proceeding

Step 3: Configure Copy Settings

This is crucial - set your parameters carefully:

Amount Settings

Choose how much to invest per copied trade:

Option A: Fixed Amount

  • Copy with same dollar amount each time

  • Example: If they buy $1000, you buy $500 (if you set $500)

  • Pros: Predictable, easy to manage

  • Cons: Ignores their position sizing

Option B: Percentage Match

  • Copy a percentage of their position size

  • Example: Copy 10% of their trades

  • Pros: Scales with their confidence

  • Cons: Can be unpredictable if they trade large

Option C: Ratio/Multiplier

  • Use a fixed ratio (e.g., 0.5x = half their size)

  • Example: They buy $1000, you buy $500

  • Pros: Balanced approach

  • Cons: Still scales with their size

Recommendation for Beginners: Start with Fixed Amount (small amount like $50-100 per trade)

Risk Controls (Critical!)

Max Per Trade:

  • Cap on any single copied trade

  • Example: No more than $200 per trade

  • Prevents accidentally copying huge positions

Daily Spend Limit:

  • Maximum total to spend in one day

  • Example: Max $500/day across all copied trades

  • Protects from overexposure

Stop Loss:

  • Auto-exit if copied trade goes negative

  • Example: Exit if trade is down 10%

  • Essential for risk management

Take Profit:

  • Auto-exit when copied trade hits profit target

  • Example: Exit if trade is up 20%

  • Locks in gains automatically

Max Concurrent Trades:

  • Limit number of open positions from copy trading

  • Example: No more than 5 open positions

  • Prevents overexposure to one wallet's activity

Token Filters

Control which tokens you copy:

Whitelist Mode:

  • Only copy trades of specific tokens

  • Example: Only copy SOL, BONK, and RAY

  • Use when you trust the trader but want to limit exposure

Blacklist Mode:

  • Copy all trades EXCEPT certain tokens

  • Example: Block known scam tokens or rugs

  • Use to avoid specific risks

Market Cap Filters:

  • Minimum market cap (e.g., only tokens >$1M market cap)

  • Maximum market cap (e.g., only tokens <$100M market cap)

  • Filters by token size/risk

Liquidity Filter:

  • Minimum liquidity required (e.g., >$50K liquidity)

  • Ensures you can actually execute trades

  • Prevents getting stuck in low-liquidity tokens

Step 4: Review & Confirm

Before activating, review:

Step 5: Activate Copy Trading

  1. Click "Start Copy Trading"

  2. Confirm settings one last time

  3. Approve the setup

  4. Copy trading is now active!

You'll see:

  • "Active" status on the copied wallet

  • Real-time monitoring of their trades

  • Notifications when trades are copied

How Copy Trading Works

Trade Execution Flow

  1. Wallet Makes a Trade

    • The wallet you're copying buys or sells a token

    • Trade is detected on-chain in real-time

  2. System Checks Your Settings

    • Filters applied (whitelist, blacklist, market cap)

    • Position size limits checked

    • Daily limits verified

    • Ensure you have sufficient balance

  3. Trade is Copied (if all checks pass)

    • Your account executes the same trade

    • Uses your configured amount settings

    • Transaction submitted immediately

    • Notification sent to you

  4. Position Management

    • Position tracked in your portfolio

    • Stop-loss and take-profit monitored

    • P&L calculated independently

    • You can manually close anytime

Entry Copying

When the tracked wallet BUYS:

  • You automatically buy the same token

  • Amount based on your settings

  • Uses market order for speed

  • May have slight slippage vs their price

Exit Copying

When the tracked wallet SELLS:

  • You automatically sell your position

  • Sells your position size (not theirs)

  • Uses market order for speed

  • Your P&L independent of theirs

Partial Exit Handling

If they sell 50% of their position:

  • Option A: You sell 50% of your position (proportional)

  • Option B: You hold your full position (ignore partial exits)

Configure this in advanced settings.

Managing Copy Trading

Monitoring Performance

Track your copy trading results:

Real-Time Dashboard:

  • Active copied positions

  • P&L per wallet you're copying

  • Success rate of copied trades

  • Total spent and returns

  • Recent copy activity

Per-Wallet Stats:

  • Number of trades copied

  • Win rate on copied trades

  • Average P&L per trade

  • Total P&L from this wallet

  • Best and worst copied trades

Adjusting Settings

You can modify settings anytime:

To Update Settings:

  1. Go to copied wallet in dashboard

  2. Click "Edit Settings"

  3. Modify any parameters

  4. Save changes

  5. New settings apply to future trades (not existing positions)

When to Adjust:

  • Wallet's performance declining → Lower amounts or pause

  • Your confidence increases → Increase amounts gradually

  • Strategy changes → Update filters or exit rules

  • Risk tolerance changes → Adjust stop-loss/limits

Pausing Copy Trading

Temporarily stop copying without removing:

  1. Click "Pause" on the copied wallet

  2. Existing positions remain open

  3. New trades won't be copied

  4. Resume anytime by clicking "Resume"

When to Pause:

  • Market volatility is too high

  • You need to review wallet's recent performance

  • Taking a break from active trading

  • Waiting for more capital to deploy

Stopping Copy Trading

Permanently stop copying a wallet:

  1. Click "Stop Copy Trading" on the wallet

  2. Choose what to do with open positions:

    • Keep Open: Positions remain, you manage manually

    • Close All: Immediately close all copied positions

  3. Confirm the action

  4. Copy trading ends for this wallet

Advanced Strategies

Multi-Wallet Copy Trading

Copy multiple wallets simultaneously:

Benefits:

  • Diversification across strategies

  • Reduces impact of one wallet's losses

  • Exposure to different market conditions

  • Better overall risk/reward

Setup:

  1. Find 3-5 complementary wallets

  2. Allocate capital to each (e.g., $500 per wallet)

  3. Use different settings per wallet based on their style

  4. Monitor overall performance regularly

Example Portfolio:

  • Wallet A: Conservative, high win rate → $300/trade

  • Wallet B: Aggressive momentum → $150/trade, tight stop-loss

  • Wallet C: Swing trader → $200/trade, wider stops

Partial Copy Strategy

Copy entry but manage exit manually:

How:

  1. Enable copy for entries only

  2. Disable automatic exit copying

  3. Manually close positions based on your analysis

When to Use:

  • You trust their entries but want control over exits

  • You have different profit targets

  • You want to apply your own risk management

Delayed Copy Trading

Add intentional delay before copying:

Why:

  • Avoid frontrunning the wallet (if many people copy them)

  • See if price stabilizes after their entry

  • Reduce cost of slippage

Risks:

  • May miss the move if token pumps quickly

  • Less effective for momentum strategies

  • Wallet may exit before you even enter

Risk Management

Position Sizing Rules

The 1% Rule for Copy Trading:

  • Don't risk more than 1% of your capital per copied trade

  • Example: $10,000 capital = max $100 per copied trade

  • Accounts for the fact you don't control the strategy

Portfolio Allocation:

  • Limit copy trading to 10-20% of total portfolio

  • Don't put all funds into copying one wallet

  • Keep dry powder for opportunities

Using Stop-Losses

Always use stop-losses on copied trades:

Tight Stops (5-10%):

  • Use when copying aggressive traders

  • Limits damage from bad trades

  • May get stopped out frequently

Moderate Stops (10-20%):

  • Balanced approach for most situations

  • Allows for normal volatility

  • Recommended for beginners

Wide Stops (20%+):

  • For swing trading strategies

  • More forgiving of drawdowns

  • Higher risk per trade

Drawdown Management

What to do when copy trading is losing:

If Down 5-10%:

  • Review recent copied trades

  • Check if wallet's strategy changed

  • Consider reducing position sizes

If Down 10-20%:

  • Pause copy trading

  • Analyze what went wrong

  • Decide if you want to continue

If Down 20%+:

  • Stop copy trading immediately

  • Close remaining positions

  • Re-evaluate wallet selection

  • Start fresh with new research

Troubleshooting

Trade Wasn't Copied

Possible reasons:

  • Balance insufficient for the trade

  • Token filtered out by your whitelist/blacklist

  • Daily limit already reached

  • Position size exceeded your max per trade

  • Market cap or liquidity filter rejected it

  • Transaction failed due to slippage

Solution:

  • Check notification details for specific reason

  • Review and adjust filters if needed

  • Ensure sufficient balance

  • Increase slippage tolerance if needed

Different P&L Than Copied Wallet

Why this happens:

  • You entered at different price (slippage)

  • You have different position size

  • You closed at different time/price

  • Fees differ based on timing

This is normal! Your P&L will always differ slightly.

Copied Wallet Changed Strategy

Signs:

  • Suddenly trading different tokens

  • Position sizes dramatically changed

  • Win rate declining

  • Holding times changed significantly

What to do:

  • Pause copy trading

  • Research why strategy changed

  • Decide if you still want to follow

  • Consider finding new wallet to copy

Too Many Notifications

Solution:

  • Adjust notification settings

  • Switch to summary/digest mode

  • Only notify for large copied trades

  • Disable in-app notifications, keep email summary
